Happy New Year!

It's that time of the year again... the beginning of the year that is. Wishing all my readers a Happy New Year! Choicest Games has made it to 2025, despite life again getting in the way and making it an extremely busy year.

As it was with previous years, last year, I made some blog-specific new year resolutions in terms of what I was planning to achieve for 2024. But first, let us see what was actually achieved along with some of the other highlights:

• 2024 saw a huge drop in the number of posts published at a measly 22! Compare this to 2023's 55 and it seems even more dramatic. The reason for this is I decided to stop publishing regular weekly posts in March 2023. In 2024 I managed to post 18 reviews which is the same as 2023, so at least I'm not going backwards in that regard, despite again falling short of the goal of 24 reviews.
• So far, 189 games have been crossed off the Pile of Shame list. This means that I'm currently at 12.6% which may seem small, but is almost a 2% improvement from last year (last year was 10.8%) but again, the Pile of Shame has increased to 1498 games so this isn't helping! I only reviewed 1 new game (Star Trek: Resurgence) in 2024 unlike the 5 new games in 2023 so this may have helped.
• The annual 10 Most Anticipated PC Games list was completed for 2025 and I again created a PC Game Music Covers and Remixes post.

This year it seems I've managed to complete 2 out of 3 of my new year resolutions: I completed a Top 10 list last year and I published a Most Anticipated PC Games List of 2025 (with the help of Lanna).

I again failed in reaching the modest goal of 24 reviews this year (two reviews per month). I missed it by 6 reviews. So, I'm planning to keep my goal at 24 reviews since I think it's still a reasonable one, and I don't think I will be changing any reviewing criteria, except I really just have to spend more time on them. In fact, I now have a backlog of reviews so yeah, I now have backlogs for my backlogs!

So what are my resolutions going to be for 2025?

• To aim for 24 reviews in 2025 (or two per month)
• To continue the Most Anticipated PC Games List for 2026
• To complete a feature article for this year (e.g. a Top 10 list, Top 100 list, etc.)
