The fifth game in the puzzle platformer series Trine is set for release in "summer" this year (which means Q2/Q3 2023). Trine 2 (which was released in 2011) received a respectable 7 out of 10 on Choicest Games and was commended for its graphics, music and gameplay but was criticised for its lacklustre, linear plot. It's been about 4 years since the last Trine game but Finnish developer Frozenbyte aren't resting on their laurels and they promise that the sequel will "become the best Trine game of the series".

The usual trio of characters: Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief and Pontius the Knight, return as playable characters in the fifth game but this latest iteration of Trine changes the game's difficulty depending on how many people are playing. The game also introduces a skills quest system as well as new tactical, multi-phase boss fights. The game will have the usual local and online co-op and there will be twenty levels to explore. Definitely a game for the fans of Trine and co-op puzzle platformers to keep their eyes on.
