Deus Ex: Human Revolution is available for less than $5 right now

There's only a few hours left for the GOG Winter Sale but just in case you've had any conundrums on what to get, there are plenty of options. In fact, I did a quick check and in terms of games we've recommended here at Choicest Games (i.e. games with a rating of 8 or higher) there are currently 46 games on sale. However, we know you only like the juiciest of deals so I've decided to limit this particular post to ones that are under a measly $5 AUD (so they're very affordable)!

In terms of classic games there are plenty on sale including classic city builders like SimCity 2000 and SimCity 3000 which are going for 75% off. 1990's space combat sim Wing Commander designed by Chris "How's Star Citizen coming along?" Roberts is also on sale for 75% off and you can get it for $2.19. The 2004 version of Sid Meier's Pirates!, a game that is in desperate need of a remaster but is otherwise fine the way it is, also just makes the cut at $4.99.

There are also a few "modern classics" too (I define modern classics as highly recommended games that were released in the last decade) such as the violent, top-down shooter Hotline Miami, indie dungeon crawler Crawl, the beautiful narrative game Finding Paradise, classic sci-fi roguelike FTL, a modern take on interactive fiction 80 Days, cooking simulation/management game Cook, Serve, Delicious!, hacking simulation game Hacknet, minimalist rhythm platformer 140 and an action-adventure where you play a badger called Shelter: there's even a AAA game here (albeit a very old one) with Deus Ex: Human Revolution going for $4.39.

"But Mark," you ask, "I see no point 'n' click adventures? Are you okay?" Yes, yes, I've saved the best for last. Of course there are point 'n' click adventures on sale including classics from the golden age as well as modern ones. Lucasarts adventures such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, The Curse of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis are all on sale and can be purchased for less than a fiver. Modern classic adventures include the likes of The Shivah, Resonance and Primordia are also good modern adventures that are worth a look.

Oh, and it goes without saying that you should try Beneath a Steel Sky as it's completely free!
