Weekly Round-Up Wednesday - 1st March 2023

Hogwarts definitely looks pretty in this game

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Wednesday to update readers on what I've been playing during the week (this also includes games on my "Pile of Shame"). The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Battlefield 2042

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 100%

I had some issues leading up to the release of this season where I again was experiencing garbled audio before being randomly kicked out of servers. Since the Season 4 update I haven't experienced it yet so, let's hope it stays that way. I've only just unlocked Blasco so haven't had a chance to play as her yet, but will do so soon. I'm also trying to unlock the SVD with Rao so I've been trying my best to use the SVK but it's painful because I really suck at DMRs and sniper rifles.

Cook, Serve, Delicious!! 3?!

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 18%

Just plugging along at this. One advantage of playing the previous games though is if you've become accustomed to making certain foods, you now have transferable skills in Cook, Serve, Delicious!! 3?!. I managed to get a gold medal a couple of times as a result.

Hogwarts Legacy

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 22%

I've transferred Hogwarts Legacy to the SSD and the performance is much better. I experience very little in terms of framerate drops and it takes only a matter of seconds to load the game and levels. I suspect I should do this with any game that is open world or has large maps in the future. I'm finding the game quite addictive so far and I like how you often use magic to solve puzzles which is a welcome change of pace. For example, navigating your way through a secret tunnel to Hogsmeade required a combination of Levioso, Accio and Incendio spells in order to get through, instead of bludgeoning your way through a group of goblins (although that tends to happen too).

Speaking of fighting goblins though, I find it quite strange that despite your character sounding quite placid, stoic, polite and seemingly bored in all his interactions with other people, during one mission which involved clearing of goblin camps, he started to sound angry and vengeful which really came out of the blue.
