Weekly Round-Up Wednesday - 25th May 2022

Let us pray.

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Wednesday to update readers on what I've been playing during the week (this also includes games on my "Pile of Shame"). The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Far Cry 4

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 23%

Done a few more campaign missions. It seems that Sabal is more idealistic and religious than Amita while she is more of a pragmatist and willing to use cunning in order to achieve the Golden Path's goals. There's already been a couple of missions where Amita would like us to take over facilities used to sell drugs whereas Sabal wants them destroyed as he reckons it's unethical to keep them. I'm kind of inclined to agree with him but I guess if this were real life, you probably wouldn't have the luxury of taking the moral high ground. I don't know.

Anyway, I've captured one of Pagan Min's lieutenants and also crafted a larger loot bag. It required me to literally punch up some fish in a lake in order to use their scales to craft one, go figure. The combat is resolved using quicktime events.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Gathering Storm

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 22%

I've started up another multiplayer game with Lanna in Civ VI. I still haven't completed a full game of Gathering Storm so I'd very much like to do it at least once (and then I can finally review it)! Lanna is struggling with barbarians at the moment although I'm in a slightly better position playing as China. I've managed to capitalise on their strengths which involves completing Ancient and Classical Wonders very quickly (you can even use builders to rush wonders, a bit like how you could rush Wonders in Civ II with caravans). I've yet to actually build a Great Wall but once my borders have expanded enough I'll start walling up the border between me and Brazil (the other AI civ on my continent). I've only got three cities at the moment but hopefully it should suffice until I can explore more of the map to find suitable sites for expansion.
