All's well that ends well, or does it? |
The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Wednesday to update readers on what I've been playing during the week (this also includes games on my "Pile of Shame"). The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.
Disco Elysium
- Picked by Me
- Percentage Complete = 100%
I finished Disco Elysium and considering all the danger and violence in the previous hours of the game, it was kind of a relief to have a kind of anti-climactic ending. Although some might find the lack of action at the very end a disappointment, it does tie a lot of loose ends which is what I like to see. So in some way, I suppose the end really acts as a sort of epilogue despite it occurring straight after you arrest the murderer. Kim also gives his final assessment on what kind of cop you are at the end and I believe this is dependent on what you do in the game (so it changes depending on your actions). I unfortunately never found out what happened to Harry's gun but I did find his badge.
Battlefield 2042
- Picked by Me
- Percentage Complete = 52%
It's taking ages for me to get to Level 1 Mastery with Sundance. And I also just realised that the sweet looking cosmetics for them is at Level 4. Argh! You need to get kills or assists with the smart explosives they have but I think you can only get points towards that with the scatter grenade and the anti-armour drone. I don't believe the EMP grenade counts towards anything. And usually people aren't stupid enough to stick around grenades. AI, perhaps, but not human players. So it's a bit of a hard slog. I'm getting closer to Level 56 though and when that happens, time to unlock the SOFLAM (which will be so useful for the team).
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!
- Picked by Me
- Percentage Complete = 98%
I've reached Level 49! So not long to go until I've reached Level 50. I'm doing better now but only because I'm sticking with particular restaurants in Chef For Hire mode. I'm guessing maybe it's because once you get used to what certain combinations are possible with each dish, muscle memory starts to kick in.
The Ancient Art of Staying Alive
- Picked by Me
- Percentage Complete = 100%
I gave the turn-based mode a go and I kind of still prefer the real-time mode over this one. I guess it'd suit those that are more strategic thinkers and don't want to be rushed when deciding what to do but for me it feels like it prolongs the inevitable if you happen to be having a particularly poor run. It just further emphasises how bad I am at this game, okay? I don't think I can handle that kind of rejection! (as someone from Hill Valley used to say).
Anyway, I believe I've played enough of the game to give it a review so it'll be the next game on the list!
