Weekly Round-Up Wednesday - 16th February 2022

Blowing up vehicles - that's my forte

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Wednesday to update readers on what I've been playing during the week (this also includes games on my "Pile of Shame"). The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

I've made some progress but I apparently have to investigate the boardwalk and an island for potential sniper sites and I'm not quite sure where they are. I'm assuming the island is inaccessible at the moment (since surely I need a boat to get there) and I walked around what I thought was the boardwalk but there were no clues.

Otherwise, I've made progress in other areas. I've discovered a slug in the victim's brain and taken it as evidence. Kim has returned back to the police station with the corpse which meant I was investigating alone. It was a bit weird doing so without Kim around to provide his wise counsel. He probably would've put me on the right track too with respect to a great many things, but I'll just have to wait until the next morning to get his help.

Battlefield 2042

  • Percentage Complete = 32%

I've been finding games this week which is pretty good. I managed to get promoted a couple of levels and have been slowly unlocking more weapons and player card images. I've unlocked the MP9 sub-machine gun but think I'm going to stick with the PP-29 for now since it does quite a bit of damage and has a large magazine too.

I also like how Battelfield 2042 randomises three people to showcase at the end of the round instead of showing an ace squad screen (which can get kind of boring if it's the same squad over and over again). Usually they'll show who blew up the most vehicles or who revived the most players. It means the team players can have a bit of fame too. If only the voice lines they uttered on the victory screen weren't so cringey...

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!

Still grinding through this. I'm now at Level 43. I've been trying the Chef for Hire mode working at the dessert shop called the Chilly Bowl and it's tricky since the hotkeys can switch for similar ingredients. For example, for one dessert called Taiwanese Shaved Ice (which reminds me of the Malaysian Ais Kacang) mango shaved ice and mango syrup come under the hotkeys of "A" (because Milk is an option for the shaved ice and sauce and that comes under "M") but when you add the actual ingredient (i.e. the fruit) at the third stage it comes under "M". This has caused me to slip up many times so you really have to have your wits about you if you ever decide to become proficient at preparing the dessert.

Still can't play this. It's getting ridiculous. I even tried opening ports and it still didn't work. However, I checked online and I noticed some comments from those living in Perth that over the past couple of months, it's been hard to find a game. Maybe it's a localised thing and I should give the game a shot in another month or so?
