So You Want To Be a Hero?

Corey Cole, co-designer of the Quest for Glory games and Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption, has just announced that their latest game, Summer Daze at Hero-U: Tilly's Tale, is set for release on the 31st March 2022 and shall be available on Steam, GOG and other stores.

Summer Daze at Hero-U originally started off as a Kickstarter project that was successfully funded on 6 November 2019 thanks to 1,639 backers (including yours truly) pledging $106,155 to the project. The game promised to be a mix of an adventure game along with some RPG elements (although the adventure elements seem to operate more like a visual novel judging by the screenshots and videos). The game would feature the trademark humour and charm you'd expect from the Coles, 23 characters and 25 locations situated at Hero-U (the same setting for Rogue to Redemption. Originally, the game was going to allow you to pick one of two playable characters, a rogue called Tilly and a wizard called Ifeyo, but the project ran into numerous delays and eventually Lori and Corey Cole decided to split the project in two, releasing Tilly's Tale first with Ifeyo's Adventure set for release in 2023.

From what is shown in the video so far, the game looks like it's as good quality as some of the best visual novels out there, with well-drawn animated characters and great voice acting (but it's a pity we don't get to hear Terk's voice yet - I'm hoping for someone similar to Strickland from "Back to the Future").
