This is a situation you don't want to get yourself into in this game |
The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

I've been focusing on other games this week so I didn't get time to play this.

Psychonauts 2

The Rat Pack
- Picked by Me
- Percentage Complete = 44%
I've finally managed to fail a mission, even on easiest difficulty! The game now has some added complexity but in reality it's opening the door to more random events which can hinder your progress. Raids by other rat colonies can really put a stop to your colony if it's only just starting since if you don't have enough rats, the birth rate plummets to zero and when you get to that stage, you're in a very precarious situation and can get easily wiped out by the next adverse random event. I'm not sure what to think now of the random events. On one hand, it makes things interesting but on the other, it feels like a mechanic to just spice things up for what is a very ho-hum formula where you're just slowly grinding your way towards growing a huge and successful colony in a game with little in the way of graphics: a formula that works to some degree and definitely did a few decades ago but maybe not so much now.
