Pile of Shame Sunday - 31st October 2021

This isn't only a reference to Sierra adventures but Monty Python to boot

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Disco Elysium

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 44%

I've been focusing on other games this week so I didn't get time to play this.

Pillars of Eternity

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 10%

Psychonauts 2

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 5%

Captain Disaster in Death Has a Million Stomping Boots

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 50%

Still playing this. I finished the first act of the game after rethinking what was meant on a certain puzzle and I even came across a funny easter egg related to Sierra adventure games. Fortunately, the game is more forgiving than the era of gaming it references so I didn't lose any progress. Another thing I like about the game (and this is probably common in more modern adventure games) is that it limited the number of places to visit once I was near the end of Act 1 (although there was an in-universe explanation for not travelling to particular locations too).
