The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

I've made good progress in Mass Effect 2. I've just landed on Ilium, met Liara and am about to recruit Samara and Thane. I like how on Ilium you bump into a whole bunch of old characters from the original Mass Effect and you're even able to learn more about how their life turned out over the past couple of years. I'm also able to acquire the Reaper IFF already but I really need to not only build my crew up first but to also complete all their loyalty quests.

I've been enjoying the DLC I never got to experience the first time I played Mass Effect 2. The Legendary Edition comes with all DLC included except for the Pinnacle Station DLC for Mass Effect 1 (but it wasn't exactly one of the strongest offerings in that department anyway). Kasumi Goto's loyalty mission was fun as you had to perform a heist against a South African weapons dealer, but it was also tough since you only had Shepard and Kasumi on it. I also got to experience the Project Overlord and Arrival DLC for the first time. Both I enjoyed as Project Overlord reminded me of the plot from a 1992 sci-fi horror film called "The Lawnmower Man" and the Arrival DLC is actually kind of important, as it explains why Shepard is getting court-martialed in Mass Effect 3.

In terms of gripes I'm finding with the game, well, I was never a big fan of the grind in terms of scanning planets for resources and that's still going to forever be a part of this game, remastered or not. I also encountered a deafening audio glitch while playing Kasumi's loyalty mission in the rocket transport room: it almost blew my eardrums!
