The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition

I've completed the first Mass Effect! Overall, I think the Legendary Edition does a good job improving Mass Effect in terms of the visuals although it's a pity about the framerate drops during the Mako segments. The quicker loading times in the elevators was a welcome change too not to mention you have the ability to skip the conversations altogether. There were still some bugs encountered including audio samples sometimes clipping off and the fact the pathfinding AI is still pretty bad.
So, I've now started playing Mass Effect 2 which comes with an interactive Genesis comic where you can apparently pick how Mass Effect 1 turned out. I guess this was meant to be for those that never played the original but still wanted a customised start. By running through the comic though, you're forced to choose who Humanity's Councillor is as opposed to what actually happens in the first Mass Effect which actually gives you the option of abstaining from suggesting a candidate (although reading up about this, apparently you're forced to pick who the councillor is anyway in Mass Effect 2 after you leave the tutorial mission). In the end, I picked Anderson even though politics probably isn't his thing.
