Quest for Glory designers Corey and Lori Cole make cameos in Conquests of the Longbow |
The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.
Disco Elysium

I've explored more of the shacks along the coast. Found a group of guys that are techno fans (except they call it anodic and cathodic music). They want to start up a new night club but want an old church nearby cleared of people they claim to be druggies. But who knows what the true story is. I've also found the gauntlets that were originally found on the corpse.
One thing I've found annoying about the game and it isn't quite explained is that I've apparently unlocked places for fast travel but I don't have a map I can use to fast travel with. I'm not sure if this is a bug or I'm missing something altogether. .
Pillars of Eternity
- Picked by Luke
- Percentage Complete = 7%
I found the stolen shipment in Black Meadow but came up against a tough group of bandits. They actually managed to defeat my priest Durance but thankfully I was still able to win the fight. Consequently, as soon as I recovered the shipment, I didn't stick around and headed back to Gilded Vale to cash in our quest. I also rested at the inn to ensure the party was healed again. The party was approached by a mysterious man who apparently represented a resistance group that was attempting to overthrow Lord Raedric. To be fair, the lord does seem to be a bit harsh when he metes out justice so I decided to help this mysterious chap in deposing him. I've made my way east to his stronghold but I now have to find a way to get in there without attracting too much attention.
Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood
- Picked by Choona
- Percentage Complete = 66%
After several attempts at capturing a pixie with the net I received as a reward from the widow, I was escorted to "the green man" of the forest, a tree spirit that is willing to grant protection provided I answered its riddles correctly. Consulting the manual helped since it tells you what the druid's code is but I apparently had to remember something Maid Marian told me a while back about finishing your answers by selecting the middle of your palm. Since I didn't remember this little fact, I was clicking in other random spots on the screen so despite actually coming up with the correct answers to the riddles, I kept failing to answer the questions on a technicality. Lame!
Anyway, I've now reached the next day where I've yet another disguise so that I can compete in an archery tournament at the fair. There are a lot of random NPCs around and many of them are Sierra alumni (such as Corey Cole, Lori Cole and Josh Mandel)! Gotta love all the Sierra easter eggs.
