Not quite sure what exactly I'm breaching here...

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 100%

I finished the Guardians campaign! One of the maps was actually kind of tough and somehow the turrets lived up to their descriptions for once (i.e. they didn't shoot down aircraft) which meant I needed to have an anti-air defensive group patrol the map to shoot them down. In the end, a huge mob of different infantry and tanks won the day. So now I'm ready to move on to something else. I'm thinking maybe Disco Elysium.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 56%

I completed another VIP rescue mission. Unfortunately, Verge ended up with scars as he bled out while trying to escape. It's fortunate that this game is more forgiving than XCOM when an agent bleeds out as in XCOM it would usually mean the end of them as permadeath is a thing in that game. In Chimera Squad, the setback is not as major (or permanent).

I also performed a mission with three encounters: it involved stopping some genetic experiments Sacred Coil were running. Again, Verge bled out which meant the last encounter was extra challenging as I had to complete it with just three agents. Patchwork ended up being quite useful though, especially against the turrets and androids. Blueblood was also useful but, well, who doesn't love a gunslinger?

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 88%

I've helped Julanar and gained the Fruit of Compassion. I then used it to create a dispel potion with Harik the Apothecary's help. After dispelling the curse placed on Ad Avis's assistant I returned to defeat the Water Elemental and now I'm almost ready to make my way to Raseir.
