The Thief Hero sneaks up on Ad Avis in Quest for Glory II by walking the tightrope
Sneaking up on Ad Avis

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Disco Elysium

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 7%

I didn't get to play Disco Elysium this week. Maybe next week!

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 73%

I'm so close to finishing this game now as my next mission is "Take Down Sacred Coil"! The previous mission involved defending a computer against waves of Andromedons and Guardians (essentially tanks or meat shields) so as you can imagine it took a long time to defeat them. In general the easiest difficulty isn't too bad since there are missions where I've been close to being defeated or I've actually had to restart so it provides just enough challenge for the novice or casual turn-based tactics player.

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 100%

Made my way to Raseir, showed Ferrari the thief sign but didn't initially receive any word about potential work. I eventually got to do a job that makes reference to The Maltese Falcon (in this case, the artifact you have to acquire is simply called the "Black Falcon"). Anyway, completed the game going the thief route which has you literally sneaking up on Ad Avis from behind (at least while walking on a tightrope to get there). It takes a few dagger throws but you eventually push him off the ledge and the game is over! The world is saved! Yay!

And that's it! All three of my characters in Quest for Glory II have completed the game and the save files are ready to go for Quest for Glory III. But before I get onto Quest for Glory III, I may try out a few more SCI1 games first. According to the list on Wikipedia and comparing it with the Sierra games I have available the next game would be King's Quest V (time to get reacquainted with Cedric and his fear of PoOoOIiSoNous snakes), followed by Conquests of the Longbow, Space Quest 4, Police Quest 3 and Space Quest 1 VGA.
