A good way for a Thief to train in becoming more agile

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 43%

I played a bit of a skirmish and it's very similar to the single player campaign (funny that). I also tried to get a multiplayer game going but sadly it doesn't look like anyone plays this game anymore (or at least, not in large enough numbers). Against my better judgement I started playing the Guardians single player campaign and I guess the faction is like a mix of NOD and GDI in that the basic infantry unit is a Grenadier (in C&C GDI were the ones who got grenadiers) yet they also get flame tanks (which was a NOD unit in C&C). Looks like I may be playing this game a bit longer than I thought.

I continued to play more of the campaign missions and it seems like the Guardians faction are definitely modelled after NOD but why call themselves the Guardians when it sounds like a name more appropriate for GDI? I only say it seems even more like NOD because they now get rocket cars (a bit like the rocket bikes from C&C) and so far I've had no access to defensive turrets which means earlier on in the campaign, you're reliant on your troops as base defence. It looks like they'll eventually get turrets though which is again a NOD defensive structure.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 35%

Progressing more through Act 2. I've had a bit of a windfall in terms of resources, so I'm now researching Mastercrafted Armour (which will take 8 days - a long time in this game). I've also purchased scopes and tracer rounds so that all my agents have a better chance to hit the enemy. Finally, I've upgraded some of the field teams too. Progressing well so far although one dark event that the Progeny have now active is the fact they're all equipped with flashbang grenades! Not looking forward to that (no pun intended).

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 67%

I'm now playing the game as a Thief. I'm picking every door I can find to increase my lockpicking skill (and apparently it's tiring work as you take a big hit to stamina each time you do it). Also, I'm pretty sure I have to acquire the magic rope from Keapon Laffin but I don't have enough money to do so yet. I hope that doesn't become a problem when I finally discover what job Dinarzad (the money changer) has for me (she is actually a member of the Thieves Guild you see).
