Only two more of these and then I'm done!

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 59%

I've completed two more missions which means I'm also two missions from the end of the campaign now! The missions were pretty easy: the first one I completed involved destroying enemy power plants and pitted me against four enemy AI players. I just built three groups of grenadiers, engineers, snipers, scorch tanks, rocket buggies and siege artillery and zerged them. It seemed to be pretty effective.

With the second mission it was just a simple matter of turtling. All I had to do was built five orbital cannons, defend the puny attack groups that went after my base, and that was it.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 52%

The last mission involved rescuing a VIP, some celebrity known as Floyd Tesseract. Anyway, turns out this Sacred Coil is pretty challenging as their androids are tough (they tend to like self-destructing in your face) and they even have guys that carry flamethrowers! Ouch! Anyway, thankfully the VIP mission was only one encounter and I managed to get out with everybody alive (but Godmother received some scars).

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 79%

I’ve now defeated the Earth Elemental and it was really easy to do. The Thief has a slightly different way of defeating the Earth Elemental when compared to the Fighter or Wizard as it involves throwing the Powder of Burning into the Elemental’s face. It's basically an explosive concoction and despite receiving six bags of the stuff, I only had to throw one into the face of the Earth Elemental and it was all over. Definitely the most anti-climactic of battles out of all the three classes.
