Thanks boss lady!

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 56%

I played another three missions of 8-Bit Armies. I've unlocked Heavy Drones which are apparently good against all enemy types but I had a try using one of them and I can't say I'm too impressed. So, I ended up using my conventional army composition which was a combo of Grenadiers, Snipers, Rocket Buggies and Flame Tanks. I also used new units called Spectres (which are basically identical to the NOD Stealth Tanks from Command & Conquer, another clear sign that the Guardians are basically NOD).

I've only got a few missions left before the Guardians campaign is complete. Then I can move on to something else.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 50%

I completed the final mission of Act 2! It didn’t turn out being as difficult as I thought since the first encounter out of three can be almost avoided altogether as it involves turning on a generator for an elevator. Once you've done that, you can avoid fighting most of the enemies in the encounter and just make a beeline for the elevator (which is what I ended up doing).

The second encounter involves you either killing or apprehending Violet the leader of the Progeny (and since I'm trying to be a good cop, I decided to bring Violet in alive).

The final encounter involves preventing enemies from activating some device, a bit like the finale to the Gray Phoenix act but this time my squad started in the room you basically have to defend, which made it a whole lot easier.

In other news, I now have Mastercrafted Armour, the best armour in the game. Yay!

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 79%

I've now defeated the air elemental which was really easy as a Thief (I just had to throw the dirt into the funnel and then use the bellows to contain the elemental). I've also started collecting the ingredients for a Dispel potion so I've already got the griffin feather and I've talked to Julanar about Spielburg. There's not much else to report really.
