Dammit Rakeesh, I'm a wizard, not a paladin...

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 35%

I completed the single-player campaign. It took many waves of Heavy Tanks and infantry complemented with nuke strikes but I eventually defeated the enemy. Now to potentially try multiplayer or the co-op campaign (if any of my friends have it) and then I think I'm pretty much done for 8-Bit Armies.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 31%

Completed some more Progeny missions. Nothing really much to report except things seem to be progressing nicely. The only thing I'd mention is that like previous XCOM games there are often graphical glitches, e.g. agents kicking open a door but the door not actually opening or agents crashing through a window but the window doesn't actually shatter.

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 66%

Completed the game as a Wizard! I think I generally love the wizard walkthroughs since it's more akin to puzzle solving than it is with the other classes (the other classes you often have to have practised your skills quite a bit in order to be effective). With the wizard, it's all about knowing when to use the right spells at the right time. What I was surprised about is that despite trying to be an honourable fighter in my last playthrough, I never ended up becoming a Paladin. But in this walkthrough where I'm playing an honourable wizard, somehow Rakeesh offered me Soulforge! Don’t know if I'm ready to play a dual-class Paladin/Wizard (man that sounds so OP) but we shall have to wait until I finish my final playthrough of Quest for Glory II as a Thief.
