Can't really call it a breach point when you're already out in the street!

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

8-Bit Armies

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 10%

I've completed two more missions and they were pretty simple: I just kept on spamming units, the same steamrolling tactic over and over where I build a few of each type of unit, search the map for goodie crates and then overcome any opposition with sheer force of numbers. Even going against choppers was no match.

XCOM: Chimera Squad

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 7%

All the missions I have available nowadays are marked as difficult, which is worrying. I'm not entirely sure why the missions are now all marked as "difficult" but I know I haven't upgraded my armour padding options yet which apparently is a priority item but it takes 8 days to normally research which is quite a bit compared to other options. I've placed one of my team in the Assembly to help speed things up so hopefully I can make use of the new tech in time (and it will lower the difficulty rating of future missions for a while).

I'm also worried about rising unrest in some of the districts. There's no easy way to proactively keep them down. You can use field teams to reduce unrest but it only happens once every 7 days for the ones stationed in districts and it's expensive at the start to have all districts with field teams. Also, missions to reduce unrest don't come frequently enough, so I anticipate things are going to get pretty hairy in a few days.

I did manage to successfully complete an escort VIP mission this week so I think I'm getting the hang of the game... for now…

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 41%

I've managed to contain the fire elemental. I dealt with it the same way as the fighter but now that I think about it, I probably could've cast the calm spell on the flame instead of dousing it with water. No matter, the job is done and there's one less elemental in Shapeir.

I also managed to complete the trial at WIT but of course declined their offer to abandon my quest and commit my life to study. It wasn't a total loss though since Erasmus gave me a spell called the Reversal spell, which is similar to what the Kobold used in Quest for Glory 1 to bounce back magical attacks. Should be handy at some stage.

Finally, I can't seem to find any reference to this bug but each time I sell a piece of the Dervish's beard to Keapon Laffin, the magic shop owner, I get 15 dinars… even if I don't have the beard in my inventory! So, it's basically an unlimited money exploit (I did ask about this exploit on the Hero-U Discord channel and apparently it's a known exploit that has been covered in guides).
