Yes, that is a brick sandwich alright.

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Kentucky Route Zero

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 40%

I played an interlude between Acts Two and Three. It lasted for about an hour and it is a play about seemingly everyday occurrences in a small town, but the Hard Times Distillery is introduced right at the end and if I recall correctly, they play quite a pivotal role. The plot thickens.

Fallout 4

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 58%

I completed a mission where I assisted a Courser return a Synth to the Institute. The synth actually seemed to be a pretty bad dude as he was the leader of a gang of Raiders that had setup a floating city off the coast of Boston, so I didn't have too many qualms with helping the Institute in this case.

What was particularly annoying about this part though is that there were narrow gangplanks between each of the boats which meant it was quite easy for your NPC followers to shove you off into the water. This wouldn't have been a problem if I weren't wearing Power Armour but if you do, you end up sinking to the bottom of the sea... and this often results you being trapped underwater... Consequently, I ended up restoring my game several times but thankfully there was a fast travel marker set in the floating city so you didn't need to backtrack too far. I'm wondering when I'll eventually get a chance to choose where my true allegiances lie as that last mission didn't really offer me the opportunity.

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 22%

I'm plodding along through Quest for Glory II and making some progress. In terms of puzzles, the game is kind of a breeze as I've remembered what to do from previous playthroughs, although I noticed it's not immediately apparent what you're meant to do with elementals or which containers to use to catch them (especially with respect to the air elemental which is captured using bellows). It's not spelled out but I guess you'd eventually figure it out as you're given a couple of days to eliminate each elemental.

I've got two elementals left to deal with now: fire and earth. I've been grinding away at my stats every day at the Guild Hall so I hope my fighter will be strong enough to take on any future challenge he faces.
