The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Beneath a Steel Sky

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 100%

I finally finished Beneath a Steel Sky and it turns out the game was generally pretty straight-forward as far as point 'n' click adventures go. I did resort to using hints a few times but it turns out the solutions either involved pixel hunting or actually turned out to be quite simple (e.g. using a card to break open a lock, leaving Ken alone, or trying to use a card on a terminal that didn't work with other cards, etc.) I just wished that Foster gave more feedback when things don't work instead of him just shrugging his shoulders. I was also a bit disappointed with the voice acting right at the end of the game as it felt a bit hammy and rushed.

Overall, I enjoyed playing Beneath a Steel Sky and I'm glad I finally got around to completing it. That's another classic point 'n' click adventure off my Pile of Shame!

I'm not quite sure what I'll play next as I don't think I have enough space on my hard disk to try out Beyond a Steel Sky yet, so I'll probably end up playing Kentucky Route Zero instead which had its fifth and final act released earlier this year.

Fallout 4

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 56%

All of this week was spent completing Beneath a Steel Sky so I didn't get a chance to play Fallout 4.

Quest for Glory II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 0%

I didn't play any Quest for Glory II this week but will give it a go soon.
