Summer Daze at Hero-U acts as a prequel to Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption

Here's another game that I've backed on Kickstarter that has made the top 10 list, a game by the creators of the classic Sierra adventure/RPG series Quest for Glory. After the release of 1998's Quest for Glory V and the 1999 closure of Sierra's adventure games development wing in Oakhurst, California (the day is known by some alumni and fans as "Chainsaw Monday"), the Coles went on a bit of a hiatus (at least with respect to developing new PC games) and it wasn't until the success of Kickstarter projects by other Sierra alumni in 2012 did they finally throw their hats into the ring to seek funding for a new adventure/RPG hybrid called Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption. The game was to be set in the same universe as Quest for Glory and was scheduled for release in late 2013. After some mishaps contributing to delays, the game was finally released in 2018 and scored a respectable 8 out of 10 here on Choicest Games. Coincidentally, the game has a Metascore of 80 too and has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam based on 157 user reviews.

So, the Coles returned to Kickstarter in October this year to seek funding for another game set at Hero-U (the university where people learn to become heroes). This game is called Summer Daze at Hero-U and is a bit of a departure from Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption in terms of the engine and gameplay (thanks to its resemblance to a visual novel) but it promises many of the hallmarks of a game developed by the Coles including a light-hearted narrative, elements of adventure and RPG genres, as well as a plethora of puns (of course).

The Coles expect the game to be released in October 2020.
