10 Most Anticipated PC Games of 2020 - #7 Humankind

Humankind bears a passing resemblance to Sid Meier's Civilization

The next game on this list is a game that could potentially give Sid Meier's Civilization a run for its money: there have been many 4X games to come out over the years but there are very few that have touched the entirety of human history like the Civilization series has. Amplitude Studios, who have already tried their hand at fantasy 4X games (i.e. Endless Legend) and sci-fi 4X games (i.e. Endless Space and Endless Space 2) are now working on a game called Humankind. In the game, you lead a civilization that you can customise by choosing traits from 60 historical cultures as you progress from the Bronze to Modern Age. The goal of the game is to accumulate the most fame which you generate by completing great deeds, making important moral choices and winning battles. There's also all the usual stuff you'd expect from a 4X game such as making scientific breakthroughs, building cities and fighting tactical battles.

All sounds pretty good, just don't mind the rather strange trailer with a Neanderthal playing a techno version of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor aboard a space station... yeah...

The game is set to be released next year.
