What I've Been Playing This Week (aka Pile of Shame Sunday)

Keith's one defining trait

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

So I finally made my way to Hollywood thanks to the new Rad Suits. I even visited the Hotel California but it wasn't such a lovely place… it was in fact a place run by drug dealers (or at least it seems). There was a secret entryway to the sewers where I've been eliminating many armed drug dealers and I've been rewarded with some new loot in the process, including a G41 assault rifle for my doctor and a Desert Ea… I mean… Wasteland Hawk for Rose (one of my followers who specialises with pistols). Unfortunately, adopting the G41 means my doctor will be competing with my sniper for 7.62mm ammo, so that could be a potential issue in the long-term.

Fallout 4

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 12%
Well, turns out the water plant I have to clear of hostiles is in fact guarded by Super Mutants. The whole place is booby trapped (which resulted in me dying a couple of times) and the Super Mutants use nuclear rocket launchers it seems (which was the cause of another of my deaths); there was even a Super Mutant called a "Super Mutant Suicider" which is basically a guy that runs at you while holding a nuclear bomb. Again, I got killed (but also managed to get the "Touchdown" achievement as a result).

Yeah, so I don't think I'll be heading back there anytime soon. I've instead checked out another settlement that needs help with raiders which seems something much more suitable for my skill level. I've also assisted one of the settlements with their food, water and defense, so the Commonwealth is starting to look like a much better place to live.

Police Quest II: The Vengeance

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 12%
Wow.

I just checked a walkthrough and despite me restarting multiple times to do things I missed, there were still quite a few things I hadn't even considered (or at least I had an inkling I had to do something but time continued to pass in the game without notifying me that I had forgotten something).

Examples of things I forgot to do includes reading a subpoena from the in tray of my desk, reading a piece of paper on the captain's desk that listed computer passwords and telling a workmate to don't do drugs (I'm not even joking hey, apparently it's okay for your to snoop through personnel files, check if your mates are being investigated by Internal Affairs and then tell them to get some help for their drug habits).

So yeah, looks like I will have to again use a walkthrough. I'm currently back at Lytton Jail again after doing all I can at the police station.
