What I've Been Playing This Week (aka Pile of Shame Sunday)

The Brotherhood of Steel makes an appearance in Fallout 4

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

I went around looking for more cat litter since I still needed a bit more before Woodson would be able to make new rad suits. This required me to steal a sewer key in order to explore the sewers under Rodia as, you guessed it, somebody stashed cat litter down there!

I also managed (after many failed attempts) to repair the tower at Rodia which meant I could put my second repeater on it.

After giving Woodson the cat litter, the Santa Fe Springs base got ambushed by synths. While Team Echo managed to survive the assault, poor Lexicanum, who I recently booted from the team to recruit Brother Thomas, died in the attack. While I do feel bad for the loss of Lexicanum, Brother Thomas is an SMG specialist which could be handy considering none of my team are skilled with the weapon.

Anyway, now that I have the new rad suits from Woodson, I can now begin to explore the hills to the north, and check out Hollywood as well as Griffith.

Fallout 4

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 11%
So, I managed to secure another site for the Minutemen! The first time I tried though there were a couple of Mr Gutsy droids blocking the path… I died shortly after. After reloading the game though, there were thankfully only a bunch of raiders blocking the bridge instead which were much easier to eliminate. After reaching the new settlement the game taught me how to use radio beacons in order to attract new settlers to the site.

One thing that I'm getting a bit peeved off about in this game is the fact I'm getting over encumbered almost all the time. You will need several different kinds of items in order to craft stuff in this game and yet you're limited in how much you can carry around… this is probably why I don't usually like crafting in games… it's such drudgery.

The coolest thing that has happened in my Fallout 4 session this week is that I've finally come across the Brotherhood of Steel! Seems like just about every Fallout game has a representative of this technocratic, militaristic organisation. Apparently, these guys are related to the ones from the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3 (now that's taking me back). I helped the Brotherhood out and also encountered some tough enemies called synths (seems like Wasteland 2 isn't the only game I'm encountering them as an antagonist then)!

Police Quest II: The Vengeance

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 0%
Yeah, I haven't got around to playing Police Quest II this week. Let's just hope I didn't forget any other crucial items once I play the game again next time!
