Have a hankering to play a fantasy 4X Turn-based Strategy game? Well Age of Wonders III just happens to be free for a limited time on Steam (until the 16 July to be exact). The offer coincides with an Age of Wonders franchise sale with 50% off Age of Wonders III DLC and where the earlier Age of Wonders games are now 75-80% off. Despite the game being a bit old now (it was released in 2014) the game is highly recommended with a Metacritic rating of 80 and a Steam Rating of "Very Positive" based off 6,914 user reviews.
I'm guessing I got the game from an earlier giveaway as it's sitting on my Pile of Shame so I really should get to playing it sometime since I do love 4X games! :)
Also, here's a random bit of trivia: the composer for the game, Michiel van den Bos, was one of the composers on the classic Ion Storm FPS/RPG Deus Ex! He will also be scoring the music for the next Age of Wonders title called Age of Wonders: Planetfall coming out next month.
