The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 25%
I finally made it to the entrance of the Red Scorpion Militia base and it's impossible to get in: there are two cannons and they don't even give you much of a chance to retaliate, taking consecutive turns to turn your Desert Ranger Squad into mincemeat. So, I decided to reload and take the long trek back to Ranger Citadel to sell junk, resupply, re-arm and patch up wounds. At the present time, I don't think my main quest is to liberate the Prison Valley from the Red Scorpion Militia (although it'd be nice) however, apparently someone in the area is supposed to know the way to a place called Damonta and that is part of my main quest. Sadly, I haven't met someone yet with that information, so I'm a bit stumped at the moment.

Homefront: The Revolution

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 15%
I managed to get the "Hearts and Minds" of the Elmtree Red Zone to 100% but nothing has happened. So, now I'm not quite sure what it actually means to get that rating to 100% but I thought I read somewhere that you will get the people's full support at that level, whatever that means. Anyway, there's only a couple of red areas left which I assume are still under control by the Norks but I don't see the point of taking them except maybe for some upgrade points (which I can use for upgrading my weapons and gear if I recall correctly).

The next storyline mission is in another zone so I will do that next time I play. I've also purchased a battle rifle and assault rifle since I'm sick of trying to take out snipers with an SMG - it's cumbersome.

Also, the AI aren't too bright - they have a tendency to walk into firepits and immolate themselves... inspires confidence!

Space Quest II

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 100%
Wow, I actually finished Space Quest II without a walkthrough! That means my memory served me well I suppose (since I have completed Space Quest II before). I didn't get a perfect score though so there must've been a few things that I missed. In hindsight, there were only two parts I found potentially difficult for newcomers to the game including when you use the whistle to lure the Labion Beast and the infamous kissing alien (but in that case, you'd at least find out later it's a bad move to let that happen: save early, save often).

Next up, I'll have a look at good ol' Police Quest.
