What I've Been Playing This Week (aka Pile of Shame Sunday)

Not quite sure what is so informative about this grunt

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Mage’s Initiation

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 13%
Hey, now things are getting interesting! I got my first taste of combat and ended up killing a lot of goblins which meant a lot of loot which means I'm now making MONEY!

In the main quest I need to somehow grab a submerged oar in order to cross a lake, but I can't figure out how, so I guess I’m stuck. I also noticed a few animation glitches while walking but besides that, the game has been pretty smooth.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 16%
I didn't play this game this week. I need to get Lanna to install her copy so we can play co-op with at least two players 😊 (and maybe two randoms if we're adventurous…)

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 62%
I didn't play this game this week. I’ll get back to it soon 😊.

King’s Quest III

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 42%
WTF!

I have to wait in real time for things to occur in this game? Now I'm really glad that I decided to use a walkthrough. You have to wait five minutes for the wizard to return from a trip, and then another five minutes for him to go take his nap. Then you have to wait ten minutes for the wizard to wake up from his slumber. This game is quickly becoming my most disliked King’s Quest game.

Casting spells is pretty cool though, and now Manannan is a cat! Yay! But wait! The adventure isn't over! An Oracle (that lives in a cave guarded by a giant spider – apparently foreseeing prime real estate isn't one of the Oracle's strengths) tells you that your sister is in danger of being sacrificed to a three headed dragon (whoa, King Graham, you've changed... sacrificing your own daughter?) and it’s up to you to save her.
