Top 10 PC Game Music Covers and Remixes of 2018 - #8 Children of Zakarum (Diablo II)

Screengrab from Diablo II Website @ Blizzard

Game: Diablo II
Source: Docks
Original Artist(s): Glenn Stafford, Jason Hayes and Matt Uelmen
Remix/Cover Title: Children of Zakarum
Artist(s): Platonist

We now move on from a cover of a classic Diablo theme to… well a remix based on the soundtrack of the game's sequel, Diablo II. Unlike the cover by FamilyJules, which is based off probably the most famous track from the franchise, the source material for this remix is probably not as well known. The source track, simply called "Docks" (which plays while you visit the Kurast Docks in the third act of the game) is actually a rather ambient affair with some percussion thrown into the mix. I think it's amazing that the artist, Platonist, even managed to find a melody to work with at all and the result is a groovy, toe-tapping remix for a game that is dear to many a PC gamer's heart. As one judge at OCRemix says, Platonist didn't have much to work with yet still managed to do a great job in stretching the motifs.

Oh and if you're looking for the nod to the "Tristram" theme, it's in there, albeit very briefly, at 2:53.

Thanks to OCRemix for hosting these videos (and curating the music of course).
