Yep, learned that the hard way in QFG1

The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 35%
Unlike my previous playthrough where I took the Science elective, I'm taking the Healing elective instead. In the Science elective, I was able to produce explosives and traps, but I unfortunately never got much of a chance to use them. In the Healing elective, you get to learn a lot about mushrooms and bandages. I like how the game has an elective system since it's a bit like playing a dual class in a D&D RPG: you can rely on what you learn in an elective to help complement your rogue skills.

Also, after playing a second session of the game this week, I finally managed to do something different to my last playthrough by completing what I believe is a pretty major quest. So at least it seems like I'm doing better than last time. I also learned it pays to investigate absolutely everything in this game, even when it seems pointless.

Stardew Valley

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 20%
On hold while I'm playing other games. 😊

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 25%
I haven't made any further progress on this – it's now on hold while I am distracted by… well… a lot of other games 😊.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

  • Picked by Luke
  • Percentage Complete = 39%
Ahhhh, now the plot finally thickens. Back in the real world, you're starting to get snippets of a conspiracy and things aren't what they seem at Abstergo. I also completed the mission back in the Age of Piracy where you end up stealing a Spanish galleon!

Hacknet

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 90%
Okay, I don't think I've finished Hacknet yet but I finished Hacknet Labyrinths and wow, did it have a climactic ending or what? You basically end up having to choose whether to destroy a plane (with innocent civilians aboard) or save it (knowing that plans for chemical weapons are on board). Which do you choose? I actually wanted to save the plane but I was unfortunately too slow to save it so everyone assumedly died in a plane crash D:. Makes me wonder though if air traffic control software in real life is susceptible to hacking… probably best not to think about it hey?
