The following post is part of a series of posts that are published every Sunday to update readers on what Mark G has been up to with respect to finishing off games on his "Pile of Shame". The games to target are picked by Choicest Games contributors Choona, Luke and myself. As I'll be talking about my progress through these games, there may be spoilers ahead, especially for games containing a narrative. Consider yourself warned.

Master of Orion 2

Argh! I actually lost track of time and succumbed to "Just… one… more… turn…" syndrome that tends to be prevalent in 4X games, mainly because I was actually making progress in this game, which has been unheard of so far. Still playing as the Darloks and the Antarans have stopped attacking me (I guess they're looking for easier prey now?)! I'm also allied with the Trilarians and kicking arse. Almost all other races have been wiped out which means I could very well win the game (for reals).

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series

Yes, I finished a Telltale adventure game this week but I'm a bit confused by the ending stats this time around. When I researched how the endings worked online it seems like I didn't do too well since each follower's resolve by the end of the game is colour coded: blue and green are apparently good, but purple isn't – and I'm pretty sure I have a couple of guys who are "purple".

Thankfully, despite me thinking one of the Guardians actually died in a previous episode, turns out he actually survived, which is a relief. Also, it wouldn't be a Marvel product without a post-credits scene which hints that there's going to be a second season.

I also think keeping the Eternity Forge intact would've made for a more interesting game since there are some playthroughs where you're able to revive quite a lot of dead people.

Finally, I like how you're basically given the option to choose the ending music to the game from a choice of four licensed tracks that are played earlier in the game.

Horizon Chase Turbo

Cool! I managed to get gold cups on all the Chile races and have now unlocked the Mustang. Not only that, but I've unlocked another two cars: the Chevy Camaro (called "Madbot", maybe a reference to Bumblebee in the "Transformers" films?) and the Lancia Stratos ("GAME OVER, YEAAAAAAH!!!!" – anybody remember Sega Rally? No? Awww....).

Hand of Fate

On hold while I'm playing other games. 😊

Stardew Valley

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes

  • Picked by Me
  • Percentage Complete = 25%
I haven't made any further progress on this – it's now on hold while I am distracted by… well… a lot of other games 😊.

Battlefield 1

Door Kickers

Wow, you definitely get lots of XP during the campaigns if you actually make it through to the end. At least I managed to make it through the easy campaign and I've now unlocked some heavy armour. However, the next campaign was an entirely different story with me losing all my troopers by the end! And it really is perma-death too… i.e. not only can I never use troopers again during a campaign, I can't use them in anything any more. So, all my sergeants and high-level officers are now all dead for good and I'm stuck with rookies again, ARGH! I'm also having a tough time dealing with enemies equipped with AK-47s and heavy armour…

Nothing

  • Picked by Choona
  • Percentage Complete = 0%
I'm still playing Town of Salem as it's that good, and Choona has still not picked a new game for me to play yet – oh well, means I get a break of sorts 😊 (and hopefully some time to catch up with reviews!)
