A recent update from Corey Cole indicates that Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption is completely playable and ready to enter Beta testing on Steam ( at least for those that pledged at the relevant tier on Kickstarter). Corey describes Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption as "a cross between a Quest for Glory style adventure role-playing game and an epic interactive novel" (which sounds exactly like the sort of game I want to play) and that the latest word count is similar to "Gone with the Wind", although only a fraction of the text will be seen during each play-through, so you will have to replay the game multiple times in order to experience more dialogue and different play styles. In the game, Shawn can be intelligent, charming, or snarky; you can either have him work out in the practice room and take on every monster, or avoid almost all combat using stealth and subtlety (apparently there's even a Steam achievement for those who complete the game without killing any monsters).

Corey says the aim is to eventually release the game onto GOG and Humble Bundle, but it's currently being released on Steam first (at least for the beta). The beta will be run for 6-8 weeks meaning the game is likely to now be completed in June or July.

Hopefully, Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption will be a success since Corey says:

"Even as we finish Rogue to Redemption, we’re looking forward to raising the ante again in every game of the Hero-U series. Every step of the way will be an adventure, and we hope you’ll be there with us!"
