What I loved about the Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat soundtrack is that it was released during the time of "Red Book Audio"; many games released on CD-ROM would use the first track for the data (i.e. the game) with the remaining tracks reserved for audio tracks. This meant your game CD doubled up as an audio CD you could pop into your CD player, which was awesome (remember the days when cars had CD players?).

Anyway, listening to CD quality audio while you played your PC games in the early 90s was truly amazing for the time meaning Mechwarrior 2's soundtrack is bound to be a memorable one regardless - it also helps that the music itself was damn good as well. This particular track (like a lot of the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack) has a Middle Eastern feel to it; you could almost imagine yourself riding a camel across the harsh Sahara desert. It's also probably no coincidence that the music syncs perfectly with the steps your mech takes too...
