10 Most Anticipated PC Games of 2017 - #1 Mass Effect: Andromeda

Looks like there'll be an Asari on the crew

Considering my love for the Mass Effect series, it's probably no surprise that the next instalment in the series, Mass Effect: Andromeda would be on this list - although #1 again? Like last year? Obviously, I'm not the only fan here at Choicest Games although the fact it was featured last year also means the game is slightly delayed. No matter, apparently we don't have too much longer to wait as it will be released early next year.

So what's new about this next Mass Effect? Unfortunately, one of the biggest features are that it's going to be an "open world" experience, whatever that means (and shouldn't that be "open galaxy" considering this is Mass Effect?) - so long as that doesn't translate to a dilution of the quests and storyline, I'll be happy; if it's an excuse to do a copy and paste job on quests and dungeons, then not so much. Apparently there will be a return of a vehicle similar to the Mako from the first Mass Effect as well as a ship that you can command called the "Tempest". There will also be the return of dialogue trees, choices, romantic relationships with companions and co-op multiplayer (which was introduced in Mass Effect 3).

In terms of plot, the game is (no surprises here) set in the Andromeda Galaxy and takes place long after the events of the Commander Shepard Trilogy (i.e. the original three Mass Effect games). You play the child of someone called Ryder, an N7 operative designated as a "Pathfinder". Pathfinders have been tasked by Humanity to explore prospective planets for colonization and that's about all there is to know about the game so far.

Whatever the case, it will be great to get back into a sci-fi RPG with a rich backstory and I'm sure at the very least, Mass Effect: Andromeda will deliver in that regard - just please don't make it too much like Skyrim IN SPAAAAAACE (because as good as Skyrim is, it's not what I'm looking for in a Mass Effect game).
