About (Archived Version)

Hi there! If this is your first time at Choicest Games, you might be wondering, what makes this PC gaming blog so much different to millions of other blogs out there? Well here's 5 points that I think make Choicest Games stand out from the crowd:

1. We let you know if we finish the games that we review

What I hate about many reviews by commercial publications is that they tend to rush their reviews to ensure they meet their deadlines, often not finishing the game and yet giving the game a good score based on the first couple of hours of gameplay. Nothing ruins a game like a sloppy ending and we see this happen all the time with games. It really can spoil the whole experience and games should be rightly marked down for doing so. True, this means our reviews may come out a bit later than normal, but rest assured, when you read a Choicest Games review, you know we've given it every opportunity to shine!

However, sometimes things get in the way of finishing a game, such as showstopper bugs that prevents any further progress or a game that is such a chore to play that the reviewer would rather play Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing instead of enduring it anymore. Whatever the reason, we'll make sure you know.

2. We believe gameplay and immersion are the most important qualities in games

We believe that a game being fun and its ability to immerse you into the world are key factors in elevating a game above its competitors. This is why when we rate games we give more weight to a game's gameplay and music scores (what better way to immerse a player into the game than through its music?).

3. We don't just do game reviews

We do lots of other features including your typical Top 10 lists, and your not so usual stuff like retro game reviews and Video Game Music (VGM) articles.

4. Our reviews are independent

We don't get any special incentives by publishers or other external companies when writing our reviews. This means we give you our fair dinkum opinion on a game. No B.S.

5. We have decades of gaming experience

We've been playing hundreds of games since the 1980s so we have quite a bit of experience when it comes to gaming history and the industry in general. I bet most of you think Team Fortress Classic was the first Team Fortress right? Well, you'd be wrong :).
