A pirate I was meant to be...

Coming in at #7 is a game that didn't quite make the 10 Most Anticipated PC Games of 2017 but we still kept our eye on it; critically-acclaimed British developer Rare (the same folks behind Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye 007, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazooie and Kinect Sports) didn't quite make the 2017 deadline but they're hoping to release their pirate-themed "shared-world adventure game" (or SWAG for short) in the first half of next year.

Co-operation is key in this game as you travel and explore an open world in your own pirate ship along with the rest of your crew. There are different roles available for each crew member such as steering, hoisting sails, navigating, repairing leaks, firing cannons and even firing yourself out of aforementioned cannons… You'll be able to embark on quests, collect loot and engage combat with other players.

The only downside for us PC players (especially for those who are averse to playing anything that isn't on their Steam library) is that the game is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program which means if you buy a digital copy of a game on Xbox One you'll also get a free digital copy for a Windows 10 machine. The program also promises cross-platform play. On the surface, all of this sounds great but it does mean Windows 10 is a minimum requirement and if you don't have an Xbox One, you'll most likely be buying the game off the Windows Store and not on Steam but I guess we'll know what's really going to happen closer to the release date.
