Grab a copy of classic action adventure Little Big Adventure for free!

Little Big Adventure - all yours for $0

For those wanting a DRM-free copy of classic action adventure Little Big Adventure (Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure) for free, this weekend is your chance. Good Old Games is currently having a sale on games by French developers called "Vive La France" so along with the free copy of Little Big Adventure (which is a game that has one of the best soundtracks in existence, IMHO) there are some other gems that are on sale too. My top picks would be the following:

  • Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition - $3.49 (70% off)
  • Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) - $3.49 (49% off)
  • Little Big Adventure 2 (Twinsen's Odyssey) - $1.79 (74% off)
  • Syberia - $3.49 (70% off)
  • Syberia 2 - $3.49 (70% off)

Why did I pick the above games? Well Another World is a classic, cinematic platformer by Eric Chahi that used animation techniques ahead of its time such as rotoscoping, just like Jordan Mechner did with Prince of Persia and The Last Express. So even though the graphics might seem dated the animations still hold up very well, not to mention if you like your games unforgiving, Another World will give you a run for your money.

Little Big Adventure 2 is a no-brainer as it's basically more Little Big Adventure. Sure the world might seem a bit too twee for everyone's tastes but the soundtrack is top notch and so is the gameplay which is a mix of puzzle-solving and action-adventure.

Finally if you're looking for adventure games there's Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), Syberia and Syberia 2 to sink your teeth into. The graphics are starting to look a bit dated with these games but the Syberia games are highly regarded by most of the point 'n' click adventure gamer community and Fahrenheit is an interesting take on the adventure game genre where you play the role as the hunter and the hunted. Oh and did I mention the game is by David Cage? The same guy behind the critically acclaimed Playstation 3 game, Heavy Rain?

There are 29 games in total that are on sale so I've only obviously listed a small (but highly recommended) sample of the games on offer.

It's also no coincidence that the Good Old Games website is now available for those who speak français as their first language.
