Choicest VGM - VGM #298 - Transport Tycoon Deluxe - Cruise Control

Original soundtrack composed by: John Broomhall

In total, only six new tracks were composed for the "Deluxe" version of Transport Tycoon and one of them we've heard already (the main menu theme which replaced the original Transport Tycoon theme). The other five tracks thankfully don't replace any of the old music but just gives your more choice tunes for your in-game playlist. One of them is the funky "Cruise Control" which is why I tried to take a screenshot of a bus, cruising along some South American highway. Although, I'm pretty sure cruise control hadn't been invented in the 1950s... which got me thinking: when was cruise control actually invented?

And after reading Wikipedia, it turns out I'm actually wrong; modern cruise control was already around by the 1950s and was actually invented in 1948 by Ralph Teetor and the first car with Teetor's system was the 1958 Imperial. So, there you have it. Don't say you never learn anything educational while listening to Choicest VGM :).
